Why Your Business Should Have a Blog
Updated: Nov 8, 2020
Blogging for your business drives more free traffic and free marketing to your site. Without blogging you're leaving money on the table.
There's more to blogging than meets the eye, so if you've blogged before, perhaps there are some ingredients you've missed to get your business noticed.
Make sure to read the FREE step-by-step below on how to boost more organic traffic and generate more income for your site.
Most people have a misconception of what blogging really is and the effectiveness of this tool.
Blogs started out as an online diary or journal but they have evolved to an educational and information platform to generate traffic and convert visitors to leads.
Why is a blog important for business?
57% of marketers say they've gained customers specifically through blogging
Blogging establishes a relationship with your customers and future clients when you provide relevant and useful content.
It all boils down to a simple concept:
The more free useful information you give out, the more they come back to your site. And the more you are seen as an authority in your field.
This equates to MORE TRAFFIC and MORE REVENUE
BENEFITS OF BUSINESS BLOGS FOR MARKETING
Free traffic to your website
Converts traffic into leads
Establishes credibility and authority
It drives long-term results
Nothing like statistics to give you a picture of the importance and benefits of a blog (image below):
Now that your jaw has relaxed after seeing the statistics and what you've been missing, it's time to get out your fast fingers and get the ball rolling.
But before your fingers actually does some typing, you need to know what to do first.
1. Write an SEO Rich Blog
SEO leads have 14.6% close rate, while outbound leads (such as direct mail or print advertising) have a 1.7% close rate.
First, what is SEO? And what's up with abbreviating things?
SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization. It's the process of optimizing your website to get organic or un-paid traffic to your website.
In terms of all these abbreviations--I think this needs to be taken up with the appropriate committee.
There are abbreviations that are the same but stand for different things, and it gets really confusing:
Dead on Arrival
Department of Aging
Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome
Attitude, Integrity, Dependability, and Service
No, blog does not have an abbreviated form. It's actually a short form of Weblog, coined by Peter Merholz in 1999.
Who is Peter Merholz?
He's some guy.
A blog for your business, however, is very important because it is a means to inform readers, educate them, and help solve problems.
This could be in the form of how-to articles for a product and or service that you sell.
Let's say that you own a vehicle repairing company and you want to give this industry a good name, because let's face it, it doesn't have the best of reputations.
A good possible article would be, "How to Not Be Swindled By Car Mechanics".
Add videos to spot potential cons and voila, you just made yourself the most-beloved mechanic of all time!
Go to Google and type, "How to know a good car repair". Terrible sentence structure but Google knows what you're thinking. Scary, but true.
Scroll down and you'll notice questions like "What should I look for in a mechanic?", "How do I find a local mechanic?", "How do I trust a mechanic?"
This is a great way to find topics for your blog and help answer questions that people are already looking for.
Use those keywords in your title from the questions people ask. The title, "What Should I Look for in a Mechanic?" is an example for a long-tail keyword vs "Mechanic". A long-tail keyword is much better for SEO.
Strive to hit at least 1,000 words for your blog. A good blog is between 1,000 - 3,000 words.
Use simple terms and don't make it too technical for the average reader.
Make sure to add images related to your blog topic.
You can add gifs to your blog such as from this free website.
Add videos (Statistics alert below).
"43% of consumers increasingly want video content from marketers"
"Video content is 50 times more likely to drive organic search traffic than plain text"
Make your blog mobile-friendly. It doesn't help your business if a person reading your blog on their phone can't read everything because it hasn't been optimized for the web.

1. Set Up an Automated Email
Automated emails generate 320% more revenue than non-automated emails.
Email automation is the ability to send timed emails, newsletters, and campaigns to subscribers.
With email automation tools you'll never miss out on opportunities to generate leads, sales, and revenue.
BEST EMAIL AUTORESPONDERS
Mailchimp - has a free plan
Constant Contact - free for 60 days
Sendinblue - has a free plan
Mailerlite - has a free plan
Convertkit - has a free plan
Get Response - 30 day free trial
Keep in mind that the free versions are pretty limited. The things that you need to really scale your business is going to cost you a pretty penny.
When I say pretty penny I mean, out-of-their minds outrageous prices.
For example if you start getting 20,000 subscribers with ConvertKit, you'll have to pay $251 a month.
And it goes up from there.
Mailchimp starts at $299/month for 200,000 contacts.
I'm sorry but it's pretty ridiculous.
And I don't really want to advocate for something when there's a much cheaper alternative and just as good.
The cheapest among those plans is actually Sendinblue.
You get to send up 150,000 emails a month to unlimited contacts plus other features starting at $169/month (under the premium plan). That's a lot lower than the other email autoresponders.
Sendinblue is definitely my recommendation if your website is hosted anywhere that isn't Wix.
But if your site is with Wix, well then sweet sassy molassy I would go with Wix!
Because Wix's prices are even lower.
Like, I'm giddy like a little school girl lower!
Get this, and brace yourself...for the Ascend Unlimited Plan at $49/month you get:
Unlimited Lead Capture Forms
Unlimited customizable forms
Unlimited form submissions/month
1 MILLION email marketing campaigns to send per month
Unlimited social post campaigns per month
Plus Wix is sooo user friendly. Wix actually walks you to step-by-step on getting your website search engine optimized.
I'm a UX designer, and trust me when I say Wix is sooo easy to do, you wish all sites were like this.
But more on my ode to Wix on another article. I will help you step-by step on how to get your website and domain going. So be sure to subscribe.
3. Convert Visitors to Leads
CRM applications can help increase sales by up to 29%, sales productivity by up to 34% and sales forecast accuracy by 42%
In order to convert visitors to leads you must have a CRM tool.
The key to giving customers what they want lies in understanding them, and a good CRM tool does just that.
CRM facilitates things by giving your customer and your business ease of communication, organization of data and improved customer service.
It's really difficult to do that without a good CRM tool.
What is CRM?
CRM stands for Customer Relationship Management.
Its purpose is to analyze and keep track of all ongoing customer interactions in order to improve and scale marketing and targeting efforts.
Improving customer relationships is very beneficial for the business as it leads to high purchases and ongoing returning customers.
CONSIDER THESE STATISTICS:
Effective sales organizations are 81% more likely to be practicing consistent usage of a CRM or other system of record
74% of users said their CRM system gave them improved access to customer data
47% of polled CRM had a significant impact on customer retention, and an equal percentage said their CRM had a significant impact on customer satisfaction
64.2% of businesses view CRM tools as impactful on their bottom line
There is a new CRM tool that's about to hit the market and I'm pretty excited about it.
It will scale anyone's business and marketing to get those high conversion stats at a higher rate than anything you've ever seen before!
It will help turn cold traffic into hot leads with as little effort as possible.
This really changes the game.
Lead Conversion Squared is a cloud-based CRM software that blows the competition like Salesforce and Clickfunnels into the past because it takes away all that bloat and combines what works for lead generation and CRM tools from other companies.
This tool has a built-in landing page for potential customers/clients to sign up to your emaial list and turn them into buyers.
This is more powerful than any Marketing Funnel System that exists right now.
It's a marketing funnel on steroids!
Not only that, but this system comes with trained Virtual Assistants to generate an additional 1,000 leads per month, turning your leads into conversions--which makes it a complete turkey system.
Seriously, no other system offers you all that to scale your business to epic proportions. Not even Clickfunnels which is known to be the best marketing funnel in the industry.
You already know the statistics and importance of videos to get clients to purchase your service and products.
LCS2 customizes videos for your leads, such as: overview of your product and how-to videos or related topic based on preferences.
The system comes with the ability to tag each new lead and categorize them demographically (age, gender, location, etc).
The software will analyze their actions, interests, and characteristics.
Because LCS2 is able to show a lead or client's detailed information such as: the time they signed up, the email campaigns they've received, how close they are to purchasing--this helps you to know where your leads are in the sales pipeline.
Best of all everything happens automatically!
Remember how automated email campaigns are very important to scale your business and generate more revenue, well LCS2 provides that.
You can easily create email campaigns without having to go through a third-party vendor.
The system allows you to make appointments and connect them with your products and services.
You will be able to see all the reports and statistics of your appointments.
Never forget an appointment again because this system does its own automatic follow-ups so you will never lost a potential client by simplifying the process for you.
Having all your marketing tools in one is extremely efficient, cost-effective, and less cumbersome.
It is such a pain, and a bane to your existence of having to switch from one platform to the next just to run your business.
You want something that runs smoothly and as turnkey as possible.
This is why I highly recommend LCS2.
Why spend years struggling to get those leads when it can happen much sooner and much easier?
4. Get on Google My Business
This free service from Google ensures you more traffic and traction to your business.
If you can't get found, you can't get sales.
This is why it's important for your business to be on Google My Business regardless if your business is localized, national, or global.
Uh-Oh Stats time:
1 in 2 people who conduct a local search visit a store that day, and 76% of people who search for something nearby on their smartphone
46% of all Google searches are seeking local information
The real reason you want to maximize your Google My Business Listing is because Google places importance on it.
If you don't take advantage of your listing, you most likely will fall behind.
All the while your competitors are garnering more reviews, uploading photos and expanding their list of services and products offered.
Yeah, you can do that on Google My Business!
5. Ask for Feedback and Reviews
The more good reviews you have, the more people will choose your business over another.
It's always good practice to ask for feedback so you know what needs improvement in your business, products, and services.
And there's nothing like good reviews from your satisfied customers to give those browsing to choose your business over your competitors.
So make sure to ask.
And if they leave a negative feedback on Google for example, do respond in a professional and kind manner and have them contact you so you can remedy the situation.
Usually they'll change their reviews based on you promptness in resolving the issue.
5. Get on Pinterest
Scale your business by directing free traffic to your site from Pinterest
Pinterest is actually the place to get free traffic to your website.
There are other sites too, but more on those on another post.
Pinterest is Free.
That, already is a huge upside.
Pinterest increases your brand awareness, additional traffic, and creates new leads, and increased sales.
Do not miss being on Pinterest.
Because you will cry if you don't.
It's that awesome.
